By the Hand of a Woman, 2015. Mixed-media installation.
By the Hand of a Woman is a multi-media, photo-based installation of shrines to several women from the Bible and related texts. The women depicted are: Tamar, Mary, Miriam, Mary Magdalene, Eve, Lilith, and Judith. In researching and producing this work, I considered the influence the stories of these women have had on women over time, and found they were used to create a role for women that suited men. As the maker, I aimed to reclaim these women and suggest what they could represent if they had come from a feminine perspective.
